“So. Philosophy … what kind of job can you get with that?” It’s a query I’ve been fielding a fair bit over the last few years. Sophomore year I might’ve shrugged and said “Huh, I don’t know.” Junior year I spoke of the abundant career opportunities in the business sector for critical thinkers and strategists. As a senior, I could talk about grad school and the prospects available within the academic sphere. But now, after graduation, I can be perfectly honest. I’m free to shrug and declare “Huh, I don’t know.” I don’t know what my career path looks like and also, “I don’t care.” I studied Philosophy and Religion because I craved knowledge and understanding of myself, my world, and the God who’s supposed to have made it all.
"If you invest your time in the Huntington University Philosophy Program, you will gain knowledge and see the sprouts of understanding. You will learn how to ask your own questions and seek your own answers. You will come to respect your intellectual adversaries because you will experience comradery beneath the weight of the questions you’re both struggling under. You will have used one of the most formative times of your life to obtain skills that are positively life-changing. And if all that sounds great but you still need to make a buck, you will also be provided with all the skills necessary to hold a job at a gas station (I believe that currently there’s even a job placement program while you’re still in school)."
