Barry Cochran

Director of Campus Police

Barry Cochran has been married to Dianna Cochran for 42 years. They have two sons: Brian, works for the city of Andrews and resides here in Huntington with his son Zachary, and Jeff who resides in Taos, New Mexico, and is an accomplished artist and owns Talpa Gardens an organic farm in Taos.

Barry is a U.S. Army Vietnam-era veteran who returned and became a Huntington City Police officer for 24 years during which time he spent four years as Chief of Police. He retired from the Huntington Police force in 1994 and became Director of Police at Huntington University. During the many years as a police officer, he studied tactical street survival, John Reid interview of criminal investigations, various auto theft investigation techniques, police management, and firearms qualifications where he has been qualified as a distinguished expert for the last 31 years.

Samson, his 152-pound English Labrador, accompanies him here at HU and loves to socialize with the students as they love to make over him and give him the attention that he loves so much.
