genealogical information
The United Brethren Historical Center contains genealogical information on a variety of individuals. Records are held for ministers, missionaries, and lay people within the Church of the United Brethren in Christ. We also collect information about Huntington University personnel and alumni. The Historical Center maintains an obituary, wedding and biography file with records from the Christian Conservator, The United Brethren and other publications published by the denomination or Huntington University.
Use the convenient search boxes at right to access the Obituary Index and Biographical Index.
Services Provided
While genealogy is not the primary focus of the Historical Center, we are interested in assisting individuals with their genealogical research as time and resources allow. The UBHC is open to the general public during regular hours and by appointment. There is only one staff member, so it is best to call because the Historical Center is closed when staff is out of town.
Phone number: (260) 359-4157
Fax number: (260) 358-3698
A request for genealogical research may also be made by e-mail, phone, postal service and fax. An advance fee of $25.00 is required of individuals who are not United Brethren Historical Society members, Huntington University students or staff, or officials of the United Brethren Church. The fee is applied regardless of results. If research of more than two hours is required an additional fee of $25.00 per hour is applied. The charge for research for commercial use is $50.00 per hour. Other rates are applicable for copies and photographs. Please see the Rate Schedule.
