Pete Schownir
Major Gifts Officer

“Whatever you do work at it with all your heart as working for the Lord, not for men.” Colossians 3:23.

Since 2002, Mr. Pete Schownir has served as Advancement Officer by helping keep alumni, friends, and parents connected to the University as well as partnering with them to make Christian higher education a reality for future and current students. In addition, Schownir coordinates the Parents Association at Huntington University and is the director of community relations. Schownir coached the HU men’s golf team from 2001-2006. Schownir says he enjoys working in a place where everyone has a common goal—to prepare young people to impact the world for Christ. 

Background: Before coming to HU, Schownir worked in the publishing industry for 21 years in both Florida and Huntington, Ind. 

Outside Interests: Schownir enjoys working on his own golf game. In 2004, he qualified for his first Indiana Open at age 46 and qualified again in 2005 and 2006. His long-range goals include qualifying for a national Senior Open or Amateur Championship. Since age 10, Schownir has been a die-hard Chicago Cubs fan. His wife, Susan, is an elementary school teacher and a student in HU's Master of Education program. They have two sons, Matt, an undergraduate student at HU, and David, a high school student.
