Welcome to the Home Page of the Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi National Honor Scholarship Society at Huntington University, Huntington Indiana. It contains information concerning Alpha Chi, both locally and nationally, including a listing of local members, an account of chapter activities for the year, and an Indiana Beta Chapter alumni list.
Our chapter was founded in 1967, the second Alpha Chi chapter in Indiana and the sixty-sixth nationally. In 2001, we were recognized as the outstanding Alpha Chi chapter nationally with the President's Cup. In 2008, we were recognized for the 13th consecutive year as a Star Chapter of Alpha Chi, one of only four chapters (out of some 300+) nationally to receive this award every year since its inception in 1996.
As the Indiana Beta Chapter of Alpha Chi continues its fifth decade of existence, we pledge ourselves to continue to be diligent in scholarship and in service.

WHAT IS ALPHA CHI?
ALPHA CHI is a national honor society for undergraduate juniors and seniors in all academic disciplines. In 1997, it celebrated 75 years of activity at its Philadelphia national convention. In addition to working with some 300 campus chapters in colleges and universities across the United States, Alpha Chi encourages students to continue their development through graduate work, supports a scholarship program, issues various publications, and provides a forum for student scholarly activity through its regional and national conventions.

Among the activities, contributions, and accomplishments of the Indiana Beta Chapter are the following:
- Our chapter has been recognized as a "Star Chapter" of Alpha Chi every year since 1996, when the award was initiated. This makes us one of only four chapters to do so.

2009 ALPHA CHI NATIONAL CONVENTION
April 2-4, 2009, Indianapolis INThe Alpha Chi National Convention will be at the Hyatt Regency. The theme of the convention is "Literacy 500," which
connects us to our host city's famous annual auto race and to the national theme for 2008-2009---the promotion of literacy. Local chapters are encouraged to collect children's books which will be given to the Riley Hospital for Children in Indy.
Local chapters are also encouraged to think of ways that they can promote literacy in their areas. Have a book drive to benefit needy schools or programs such as Head Start or shelters for abused children. Tutor students in reading. Volunteer to host a story hour at your local library, a daycare, or after-school program. Contact social services agencies in your area to volunteer to teach adults to read.
President's Reception, May 3, 2009
