- ALPHA CHI DINNER CONVERSATION, September 25, 2001
Prof. David Woodruff of the Philosophy Department led a conversation on the topic "Ethical and Philosophical Dimensions of September 11, 2001" held in Banquet Room C, from 5:30 to 6:30 pm.
- 2001 AX INDUCTION CONVOCATION, 11:00 am, October 5, 2001
The induction of 18 new members into Alpha Chi was held on October 5, 2001. The induction Convocation was followed by a luncheon for AX members and parents of the the new inductees hosted by the Alumni Office.

Alpha Chi members again contributed a regular column to the Huntingtonian.
- INDIANA BETA CHAPTER RECEIVES NATIONAL CHAPTER GRANT, October 17, 2001
We were pleased to receive a $250 Chapter Program Grant from Alpha Chi for the preparation of a permanent display related to our chapter's history. A series of plaques will be prepared showing the names of each induction class, beginning with our first one in 1967, as well as an indication of significant activities for each year (national scholarship winners, Star Chapter awards, and so forth). These plaques will go on permanent display in the front display case at RichLyn Library. It is hoped that this project will be completed by fall 2002.
- ALPHA CHI ISSUES FORUM, 8:30 pm, October 22, 2001
An Alpha Chi Issues Forum on "Fight or Flight: Christian VIews on War and Violence" was held at NORM'S PLACE, 8:30 pm, October 22. A faculty panel, with Dr Norrie Friesen, Prof Luke Fetters, Prof Jim O'Donnell, and Dr Mike Rowley discussed the issues in an open forum.
- ALPHA CHI FALL 2001 NEWSLETTER FEATURES HC CHAPTER
The Fall 2001 national Newsletter of Alpha Chi Honor Society carried a front page article, with a picture, on the Huntington College chapter winning the Outstanding chapter award. - ALPHA CHI GRADUATE SCHOOL FORUM, November 12, 2001
The fall Alpha Chi Graduate School Forum was held on November 12. The focus of the Forum was to talk about applying for graduate school, especially for those planning on attending in the fall of 2002. A panel of experts (Martha Smith, Dr Linda Urschel, Dr Jeff Webb, and Dr Wayne Priest) talked about application details, the GRE, fellowship possibilities, and other goodies.
- 2002 SCHOLARSHIP COMPETITIONS
Chapter members were encouraged to apply for the regional and national Alpha Chi scholarships. We also have a scholarship and off campus study information page, which includes information on these and other opportunities. Our nominees for the national scholarships were Ms Katie Smith and Ms Christy Glick.
- ALPHA CHI MEMBERS ELECTED TO WHO'S WHO, December 5, 2001
The following members of the Indiana Beta Chapter were elected to membership in Who's Who: Ms. Jennifer M. Echert, a Business major from Oneida, KY; Ms. Christina L. Glick, a Bible and Religion major from Bloomfield, MI; Ms. Julie A. Lowe, an Elementary Education major from Portland, IN; Ms. Amanda J. Rockinson, an Elementary Education major from Coal Center, PA; Ms. Sarah E. Stanek, a Theatre-Performance/Music double major from Indianapolis, IN; Ms. Erin E. Steury, a Psychology major from Fort Wayne, IN; and Ms. Summer R. Zimmer, a Graphic Design major from Huntington, IN. Congratulations!
- FALL SERVICE PROJECT, DECEMBER 9, 2001 11:00 am
We worked with the local Open Door food assistance project on Sunday, December 9, making food deliveries.
- 2002 ALPHA CHI REGIONAL CONVENTION, March 22-23, 2002
The 2002 Regional Convention of Alpha Chi was held March 22-23 at Brescia University in Owensboro, Kentucky. Ms Erinn Caley, Ms Jennifer Herring, and Ms Erin Steury made presentations and participated in the regional scholarship competitions. The group was accompanied by Dr and Mrs Michelson. Ms Steury presented a paper on "The Relationship Between Learning Style and Academic Performance," Ms Caley presented a paper on "Reform or Revolution? An Examination of Thoreau's Political Philosophy," and Ms Herring gave a paper on "Conjugate Lateral Eye Movements in Relation to Creation, Recall, and Gender." Ms. Herring was selected as the winner of the Region V Undergraduate Scholarship for 2002-2003. The Indiana Beta Chapter at Huntington College was recognized by the Region for its winning of the 2001 National Alpha Chi President's Cup as the Outstanding chapter of Alpha Chi and received a sixth consecutive Star Chapter award.

Dr and Mrs Michelson led a FORUM on preparing to look for graduate schools. Prof. Tom Bergler and Adjunct Prof. Maury Davis talked about their graduate school search experiences and give helpful tips. Mrs. Michelson demoed GRE study software.![]()
- ALPHA CHI MOVIE FORUM, April 15, 2002
AX co-sponsored with Phi Beta Lambda a showing of THE BIG KAHUNA, followed by a distinguished panel discussion led by Profs Ann McPherren, Dave Rahn, Jim O'Donnell, Dave McEowen, and Ned Kiser.
