Panel Discussion/Breast Exam Demonstration
(open to female students, faculty and staff)

Monday, October 20, 2008, 7 to 9 p.m.
Hiner Hall (the Science Hall)

Join us for a panel discussion about risks, treatment and effects of breast cancer. Following the discussion, there will be a breast exam demonstration. This event is free and open to the public. Chapel credit will be given for the attendance of the panel discussion.

Panelists include Jim and Lizzie O’Donnell, Nancy Ehmke, and Sharon Simmons.

Lizzie O'Donnell will share her perspective as a survivor of stage-three breast cancer. Her husband, Jim O'Donnell, serves as associate professor of business and executive-in-residence at Huntington University. He is the author of "Letters for Lizzie," a book that is a collection of letters O'Donnell wrote to friends about his wife's battle with breast cancer and his own spiritual battle resulting from Lizzie's health crisis.

Nancy Ehmke is a clinical nurse specialist in oncology for Parkview Health. She is a registered nurse and is certified as an advanced practice nurse in oncology. She also holds a master’s degree in nursing.

Sharon Simmons serves on the Northern Indiana Susan G. Komen for the Cure board of directors and holds a position on the statewide advocacy policy committee. In addition, she is a founding member of the Francine's Friends Mobile Mammography Program, and she currently serves as the board president.

Luminary Lighting
Wednesday, October 22, 2008, 8 to 11 p.m.
The central mall

Luminaries will be lit in honor of or in memory of loved ones who have battled any type of cancer, not just breast cancer. Sign up for a luminary in Habecker Dining Commons or the Huntington Union Building during lunch and dinner hours Oct. 15-22. We ask for a donation of $1 for each luminary to be paid at the luminary lighting. If you have any questions, contact Heather Barkley or Margi Roush. If you cannot attend the event and would like a luminary lit on your behalf, please put $1 per luminary in campus mail to Heather Barkley with a note that includes your name and the name of the person you wish to honor or remember.
