Committed to excellence: Olson determined to perform at
highest level
“Because of
all the shows I took on in college, I have a high level
of comfort in front of people in all different kinds of
shows.”
In Osaka, Japan, Dan Olson is known as the “big green
monster.” Universal Studios employs the 2005 Huntington
University alumnus as a Frankenstein-esque character, singing,
dancing and acting.
“Because of all the shows I took on in college, I have a high
level of comfort in front of people in all different kinds of
shows,” says Dan who earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in theatre
performance.
In addition to performing in college productions while at
Huntington, Dan also took part in auditions through the South
East Theatre Conference and was an officer in Alpha Psi Omega,
the national theatre honor society.
Shortly after graduation, Dan left for Orlando, Fla., and found
work at The Holy Land Experience. He also scored roles in “A
Christmas Carol,” “Antigone” and “Present Laughter” at two
well-regarded theatres in downtown Orlando.
Dan returned to his alma mater in the summer of 2006 as Jesus in
“Godspell,” performing 40 shows across the Midwest and
Mid-Atlantic regions.
When his role in Japan ends, Dan plans to move to New York City
or Los Angeles to further his acting career.
“I’m an actor, and I’m going to do it at the highest level,” Dan
says. “I won’t be content to do anything but the best and
highest work there is.”
