The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) is proud to announce the 2008-09 scholar teams. NAIA student-athletes around the country work diligently throughout the year for academic excellence at their respective institutions. A record total of 837 teams, a twelve percent increase over last year, earned at least a 3.0 team grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) during the 2008-09 academic year, as defined by its institution.

Six Huntington University teams were nominated and earned recognition in their respective sports. The Forester women’s tennis team earned the highest ranking, placing 15th among other women’s tennis teams with a 3.57 grade point average. The men’s tennis team placed 20th in their sport with a 3.31 gpa.  The women’s indoor track team and the women’s outdoor track team each earned a gpa of 3.26 earning them 36th and 44th in their sport respectively. The women’s cross country team was 60th with a 3.22 gpa and the women’s basketball team had a 3.03 gpa to finish 71st in their sport.
