3.13.04 - After a two-week layoff between games, the Foresters were chomping at the bit to get back on the field.  They responded by pounding out 26 hits in a doubleheader sweep over Taylor University, winning game one 16-8 and game two 11-5.  In the opener, HC banged out 17 hits over the seven innings to grab its first win of the season.  Ten different Foresters got in the act at the plate with five having multiple hits in the game.  Brian Porter led the way three hits, including two round-trippers and a double, which led to a team-high six runs batted in.  Greg Slee also had three hits with a double and two singles to knock in three runs.  Joel Kennedy had two hits, including a bases-loaded double and finished with four RBI.  Steve Orth and Tim Burris both had two singles and Orth added three RBI.  HC's Aaron Klopfenstein picked up his first win of the season going five and a third innings and giving up four runs on eight hits, two walks while striking out three.  In game two, the Trojans took the early lead plating three in the bottom of the first, but HC exploded for nine runs in the top of the fourth and added two more in the fifth to put the game out of reach.  Burris, Orth, and Kennedy continued to swing the hot bats with each picking up two more hits and driving in two runs in the game.  Kennedy also picked up his first win on the season for the Foresters.  He went six innings and gave up four runs, one earned, on four hits and three base on balls.  "It was a tough day to play and we played well enough to win," said Coach Frame.  "Obviously we hit the ball well and our starting pitching was decent.  We have got to get better defensively and that is our big area for improvement as a team."  The two wins give the Foresters a 2-4 record overall and put them at 2-0 in the MCC.
