4.17.04 - After a pair of highly contested one-run games between the Foresters and Bethel College in Mishawaka, the Pilots came to town and left no doubt as to whom the best team is in the MCC.  Bethel (33-5, 19-1) banged out 27 hits, including five homeruns, to sweep the doubleheader 6-3 and 15-2.  In game one, HC got on the board first in the bottom of the third on a sacrifice fly that scored Joel Kennedy.  Both teams scored one in the fourth, but the Pilots plated four in the fifth to put the game out of reach.  The Foresters got one more in the bottom of the sixth, but could get no closer.  Aaron Klopfenstein (2-4) was the pitcher of record in the loss, giving up five runs, three earned, on seven hits with three walks and a strike out in four and a third innings.  In game two, the Pilots pounded the ball to the tune of 18 hits, which included four homeruns against four different Forester pitchers.  Bethel took a 2-0 lead in the top of the third and added six more in the fourth.  HC got two back in their half of the fourth to make it 8-2, but the Pilots left no doubt with two more in the six and five in the seventh.  Kennedy (4-3) took the loss the Foresters.  He went three and two-thirds innings and gave up eight runs, five earned, on nine hits with two walks and a strike out.  "We had two one-run games up there, and we didn't play poorly in the first game today", said Coach Frame.  "It's just tough to get their hitters out time after time.  They're certainly the best team in the conference, and we're far from it."  The two losses drops the men to 11-17 overall and 8-8 in the MCC.
