4.20.04 - In a
rain-shortened six inning game, the Foresters held on to beat
Tri-State University 7-5. With the score knotted at 2-2, HC
took control of the game with five runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Tim Burris led off with a single, went to second on a wild pitch and
scored on a Levi Sell single. After stealing third, Sell
scored on a sacrifice fly by Aaron Klopfenstein. With two outs
and the bases empty, Greg Slee beat out a bunt for an infield hit,
and Marc Roth walked to bring Brian Porter to the plate.
Porter delivered what turned out to be the game-winning shot, a
three-run homerun, to give the Foresters a 7-2 lead.
But, the Thunder would not go away and rallied for three runs in the
top of the sixth before Jeremy Rodibaugh could shut the door in
relief of starter Kurt Cline. Cline picked up his first win of
the season, going 5 1/3 innings and giving up five runs on 11 hits
with one walk and three strike outs. The win raises the
Foresters' record to 12-17 on the season. |
