The doubleheader began on a cloudy, rainy afternoon that led to an
early end to game one with the St. Francis Cougars escaping Forest
Glen with the 1-0 win over the Foresters in five and a half innings.
Game two was played the following afternoon with HC topping the
Cougars 10-0. The Foresters could not get on track at the
plate in the first game and managed just two hits. Josh Clark
(4-3) allowed one run on four hits with a walk and three strike outs
in the loss. In game two, HC gave pitcher Joel Kennedy (5-3),
who pitched a three-hit shutout, more than enough offense with 10
runs off 11 hits. Steve Orth, David Porter, and Greg Slee each
had two hits to lead the Foresters. Marc Roth had a team-high
three RBI. Kennedy struck out a season-high eight batters in
his five innings of work and walked just one. With the split,
the men are 13-18 on the season and 9-9 in the MCC. |
