4.24.04 - The
Foresters dropped two disappointing one-run decisions to the St.
Francis Cougars, losing game one 7-6 and game two 2-1. In the
opener, the Cougars took an early 3-0 lead in the first inning, but
over the next three innings, HC caught and passed the Cougars to
jump ahead 5-3. St. Francis responded with two runs in both
the fifth and sixth innings to put the game out of reach.
Aaron Klopfenstein (2-5) took the loss for HC. He went six
innings and gave up seven runs on seven hits with two walks and a
strike out. In the nightcap, an Andy Janzen single scored Joel
Kennedy to give the Foresters a 1-0 lead in the second, but a solo
homerun and a RBI single in the bottom of the fifth gave the Cougars
all they needed to complete the sweep. Jason Stanley (1-5) had
a solid outing for HC, but got no help from his offense. He
gave up two runs on four hits with no walks and two strike outs in
six innings of work. The two losses drop the men to 13-20
overall and 9-11 in the conference. |
