5.6.04 - The Foresters played one nine-inning game against Indiana Wesleyan University and outlasted the Wildcats 10-9.  IWU jumped out to a 5-0 lead after three innings of play and seemed to have the game under control.  But with two outs in the bottom of the fourth, the momentum began to swing in HC's favor when the Wildcats committed a two-base error.  The Foresters then came up with a double and two singles to narrow IWU's lead to 5-3.  The Wildcats got one back in the top of the fifth, but a three-run homerun by Brian Porter (10th of season) and a RBI single by Andy Janzen put HC on top 7-6.  In the bottom of the sixth, Marc Roth extended the Foresters' lead with a two-run shot, his fifth long ball of the season.  Then it was the Wildcats turn to fight back as they evened the score at 9-9 with a run in the eighth and two more in the top of the ninth.  HC went to work immediately in their final at-bat with Porter getting a lead-off single.  Steve Orth was hit by a pitch, and one out later, Janzen loaded the bases with a single.  Levi Sell delivered the game-winning shot scoring Orth on a sacrifice fly.  The Forester pitching staff earned the win by committee with Aaron Klopfenstein pitching 2 2/3 innings, Jason Stanley 4 1/3, Kurt Cline 1 2/3, and Sell 1/3.  Both teams had 15 hits in the game.  HC was led by Janzen and Joel Kennedy, who had three hits a piece.  The win ends the Foresters' regular season with a record of 19-21.  They will next play in the NAIA Region VIII Tournament at Indiana Wesleyan University on Wednesday, May 12.  As the #3 seed from the Mid-Central Conference, HC will take on Indiana Tech, the #1 seed from the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, at 11:00 a.m.
