The Foresters
dropped their final three games at the
Sport Plus Rehab Classic in
Jackson, Tennessee. In game one on Friday, HC ran up against a solid
performance by the Missouri Baptist University (7-3) pitching staff
and fell 3-1. The Spartans held HC to just one run on five hits.
Brian Porter was the only Forester with two hits in the game, which
included a double. Tim Burris (0-1) went five innings in the loss
giving up three runs, two earned, on four hits and three walks while
striking out three.
In Friday’s nightcap, the Foresters dropped a heart-breaking 11-10
decision to the Lions of Freed Hardeman University (7-2). HC had a
10-6 lead going into the bottom of the ninth and looked to have the
game won when an FHU batter lofted a routine fly ball to centerfield
with two outs. However, HC’s centerfielder slipped and fell in the
very soggy outfield grass allowing three runs to score and giving the
Lions the come-from-behind victory. In their best offensive showing
of the early season, the Foresters banged out 17 hits in the game.
Burris, Ryan Finn, Thad Frame, Andy Janzen and Porter each had three
hits apiece and Janzen added a team-high four RBI. Burris, Finn, Tim
Krauss and Porter each had a double in the game and Adam Farris hit
the first round-tripper of his career. Jason Stanley pitched 6 2/3
innings in the contest and gave up five runs, four earned, on six hits
and six base-on-balls while striking out five. Cole Gutshall (0-1)
came on in relief of Jeremy Rodibaugh in the ninth and was the pitcher
of record in the loss. The Forester pitchers gave up a total of 12
free passes which eventually led to their demise.
In their final game
of the Sport Plus Rehab Classic
in
Jackson, Tennessee, the Foresters fell 15-1 to the host Union
University Bulldogs. Frame and Finn each had two hits in the game and
Porter picked up an RBI in the fifth. With the three losses, HC is
now 0-4 on the season. |
