- Levi Sell had a career day to lead the Foresters to two wins,
12-7 and 8-1, over Bethel College. Sell had three hits,
including a double and a homerun, that led to seven RBI, and in the
second game of the doubleheader, he pitched a complete game
three-hitter to earn his third win of the season.
In game one, HC jumped out to a 7-0
lead after two innings of play, but the Pilots started to chip away at
the lead. Bethel scored one in the third and one in the fourth,
but the Foresters answered back with two in the bottom of the fourth.
Two more runs from the Pilots in the fifth were negated by three from
HC in their half of the fifth. Bethel had one more rally attempt left
in them as they plated three in the sixth, but the Foresters shut the
door in the seventh to get the win. Tim Burris (2-3) went four
and two-thirds innings to pick up his second victory of the season.
Sell had a double and a single in the game and four RBI to spark the
Foresters at the plate, but he also had a lot of help. Jason
Rahn and Burris each added three hits and three RBI, and Thad Frame
added a double and single and two RBI.
In the nightcap, Sell (3-0) pitched
five innings of shut out baseball before allowing a run in the sixth,
and then set the Pilots down in order in the seventh to remain
unbeaten on the season. The Foresters gave Sell a 4-0 cushion
after scoring two runs in the first two innings. Sell then
delivered the knockout punch with his three-run blast in the fifth.
The teams traded runs in the sixth to complete the scoring. Sell
allowed one run on three hits and four walks, while striking out five.
The two wins move HC above .500 in
the conference with a 9-7 record and give them a 14-18 record overall. |
