- After dropping a tough 3-2 decision in 11 innings in game one,
the Foresters bounced back with a 10-6 win in the nightcap to gain the
spilt with Indiana Wesleyan University. HC got a run in the
first and second innings of the first game, but couldn't make the 2-0
lead stand. The Wildcats rallied for two runs in the bottom of
the sixth to tie it and pushed the winning run across with one out in
the bottom of the eleventh. Jeremy Rodibaugh (0-1), who came on
in relief of Tim Burris in the eighth, took the loss for HC.
Both teams heated up at the plate to
begin game two. The Foresters scored one in the first and two in
the second and third, but Indiana Wesleyan kept pace with three in
their first at-bat and two in the second. After a scoreless
fourth, HC's Jason Rahn broke the 5-5 tie with a RBI single and then
scored when the Wildcats' leftfielder misplayed Adam Farris' flyball.
The Foresters put the game out of reach with three more in the sixth,
courtesy of a Porter sacrifice fly and a two-run single by Rahn.
Indiana Wesleyan got one back in the bottom of the sixth, but Ryan
Roth slammed the door on the Wildcats to pick up his first save of the
season. For the game, Rahn provided most of HC's thunder,
finishing with four hits, including a triple, and six RBI.
Reliever Michael Dalton (1-0), who took over for Levi Sell in the
third, went three and a third innings to earn his first win of the
season. The split gives the men a 6-14 record on the season and
a 1-3 mark in the MCC. |
