- The
Huntington University
baseball team has scheduled a 100 inning game for Saturday, September
24. The event, which will take 7-8 hours to complete, will begin at
11:00 a.m. at the University’s Forest Glen Park.
This unique undertaking is something Head Coach Mike
Frame has used on occasion during his 22-year tenure at the Forester
helm to help raise funds for the program’s spring break trip. Each of
the members of the Foresters’ squad will play 2-3 hours with a few
attempting to play all 100 innings. The University’s faculty and
staff have been invited to participate in some way. Individuals may
don a uniform and play in the game; they may volunteer to be an
umpire; they may sponsor a player by pledging funds for each inning
played, or they may cheer on the team from the stands. Concessions
will be available during the game and Pizza Hut, the event’s major
sponsor, will be onsite throughout the day selling pizza.
“Not only is this a way for us to help make our trip
south more affordable, it also gives our faculty and staff an
opportunity to get to know the players by sharing the field with
them,” said Frame. “We want to invite the local community as well as
our campus community to come and help us kick off our 2005 season.” |
