- Although the Foresters
dropped two of three games to the NAIA 10th-ranked Tigers of
Campbellsville University, their 3-2 win was a monumental one, giving
Coach Mike Frame his 500th win at the Forester helm.
The win came in
the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader. The Foresters got
on the board first when Thad Frame smacked a one out double and then
scored on an Andy Janzen single in the top of the fourth. HU
added two more in the fifth on a two-run shot by Keith Benbow, his
first round-tripper of the season, that also scored Adam Culy.
Campbellsville got two back in the bottom of the sixth, but Josh Clark
(1-1) shut down the Tigers in the seventh to preserve the win and help
Coach Frame reach another milestone in his 22nd year with the
Foresters. In going the distance for HU, Clark gave up two
earned runs on six hits and one walk while striking out two.
Benbow also had a double in the game and Austan Kas had two singles to
lead the Foresters at the plate.
On Friday night, HU
was shut out 10-0 by Campbellsville. Drew Taylor (0-1) took the
loss for the Foresters. He gave up seven runs, six earned, on
eight hits and four walks, and he struck out three in five innings of
work. The Tigers out-hit HU 12-3 in the game. In the
nightcap of Saturday's doubleheader, the Foresters again managed just
three hits in the 8-1 loss. Campbellsville plated four in the
second inning and added one in the fifth and three more in the sixth.
Janzen knocked in Benbow with a two-out single in the fourth for the
Foresters only run of the game. Ryan Roth (0-2) was HU's pitcher of
record going five innings and giving up five runs, one earned, on five
hits and four base-on-balls.
The Foresters are
now 1-5 on the season. |
