- Sparked by the return of injured starters Thad Frame and Keith
Benbow, the Foresters (15-14, 4-6) picked up their first MCC sweep
knocking off Bethel College 7-4 and 5-2.
Down 3-2 through five innings in the
opener, HU struck back with five runs in the top of the sixth to put
the game out of reach. The Foresters hit for the cycle in the
inning with a pair of singles from Blake Hindsley and Brad Meyer, a
RBI double by Andy Janzen, a RBI triple from Benbow and a two-run
homerun off the bat of Levi Sell. The Pilots got one back in the
bottom of the seventh, but the rally ended there.
Josh Clark evened his record at 4-4
with the win. He went six innings and gave up three runs on five
hits with four walks and three strikeouts. Korey Grow, who came
on in relief of Clark in the seventh, picked up the save. He
gave up one hit and allowed one unearned run. The Foresters
out-hit Bethel 12-6 with Janzen collecting three hits and driving in
two runs to lead HU at the plate. Frame and Adam Culy each added
two hits and a RBI.
In the nightcap, the Pilots took a
2-1 lead in the bottom of the fourth, but HU reclaimed the advantage
with two in the fifth and then added an insurance run in both the
sixth and seventh for the 5-2 victory.
Drew Taylor got the complete game win
for the Foresters. He gave up two runs on nine hits and two
walks while striking out three. Grow was HU's top producer at
the plate going 3-4 with a double and driving in two runs. Austan Kas
and Janzen both added two singles.
