04.13.06 - In MCC action against the Marian College Knights, the Foresters (16-15, 5-7) fell 5-2 in the opener, but rebounded with an 8-4 win in game two to earn the split.

Marian did all of its damage in the first two innings of game one, scoring two in the first and three in the second.  HU plated one in the bottom of the first and trimmed the deficit to 5-2 with a run in the third, but that was as close as they would get.  Jessie Lester held the Foresters scoreless over the final four innings to get the complete-game win for the Knights.  HU's leadoff hitter, Austan Kas, went 2-4 and scored two runs to lead the Forester offense.  Michael Dalton took the loss for HU.  He gave up five runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out two.

In the nightcap, Marian pushed one across in the top of the first, but the Foresters answered with four in their half of the inning and added another in the second to take a 5-1 lead.  In the top of the third, Forester pitcher Ryan Roth hit the first Marian batter, walked the second, then gave up a RBI double to the third.  Adam Farris then came on for Roth and squelched the Knights' rally by getting the next three Knights in order and allowing just one more run on a fielder's choice.  HU added a few insurance runs with one in the fifth and two in the sixth.  Marian got one back in the top of the seventh, but the Foresters had more than enough for the 8-4 win.

Farris was the winner in the game.  He went three and two-thirds innings, giving up two hits and two free passes with three strike outs.  Zach Crooks went 2-3 at the plate and drove in a team-high three runs.
