- Huntington University
announced that
Huntington North High School graduate Andrew Drummond has signed a
letter of intent to play baseball at HU this fall. During his senior
year for the Vikings, Drummond hit .330 with four home runs, 24 RBI
and seven doubles. He finished second on the team in runs (25) and
hits (29). Drummond was named the 2006 All North Central Conference
baseball team. “We
are very happy that Andrew has decided to attend HU,” says head
baseball coach Mike Frame. “He has all the qualities you look for in a
player. He is extremely hard working, athletic, and has a tremendous
competitive spirit. He has played three sports throughout his high
school career, so we think he will have a chance to develop as a
player as he focuses just on baseball. Andrew has a chance to be a
very special offensive player in college. He is a great addition to
our team on and off the field.”
Huntington University is a member of the Mid-Central Conference (MCC)
and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). On
the baseball field, HU has captured the MCC regular season championship
or conference tournament championship 26 times in 46 years. The
Foresters have also had eight former players go on to careers in
professional baseball, including Heath Luther with the Anaheim Angels
in 2001 and Greg Slee with the Seattle Mariners in 2004.
