The Mid-Central
Conference (MCC) has announced its baseball awards for the 2005-06
season. Two Huntington University Foresters, sophomore Korey Grow and
junior Andy Janzen, received All-Conference honors. Grow was one of
four outfielders to be selected and Janzen was the top third baseman
in the MCC. Spring Arbor pitcher Jesse Bachman was named the MCC
Player of the Year and St. Francis head coach, Greg Roberts, was named
Coach of the Year.
Janzen, Huntington’s
third baseman, led the team in several offensive categories this
season including batting average (.417), slugging percentage (.583),
on base percentage (.482), hits (60), doubles (10), homeruns (4) and
total bases (84). Grow, the Foresters’ leftfielder hit .340 for the
season and led the team with six triples and 40 runs batted in.
Joining Grow and Janzen on the All-Conference Team are catchers Tad
Litwiller (Taylor) and Josh Houk (Bethel), first baseman Ricky Pease
(Taylor), second baseman Trent Mast (Taylor), shortstop Jake
Ringenburg (Bethel), utility infielder Scott Edwards (Spring Arbor),
outfielders Derek Malikian (Marian), Josh Widman (St. Francis), and
Michael Bentley (Taylor), designated hitter Kyle Irish (Indiana
Wesleyan), and pitchers Jesse Bachman (Spring Arbor), Brandon Moore
(Indiana Wesleyan), Jason Moon (Marian), Tom Compian (Spring Arbor),
and relief pitcher, Adam Gearhart (Indiana Wesleyan). |
