Huntington University
announced that Oak Hill High School graduate, Brad Needler, has
committed to play baseball at HU this fall. During his senior
campaign, Needler hit .343 with seven homeruns, 27 RBI and 14 stolen
bases while helping lead the Golden Eagles to the Semi-State
Tournament. His performance also earned him First Team All-State
honors. For his career, he hit .368 with 15 home runs, 69 RBI,
and 19 stolen bases.
“We are very happy
that Brad has decided to attend HU,” says head baseball coach Mike
Frame. “We think he has a chance to be a very solid hitter at the
college level. He is a great addition to another good recruiting
class. We are not sure where he will land defensively, but he can
definitely make a contribution at the plate. He is athletic enough to
play a couple different positions. Brad is also a great student and a
fine young man. We are very happy that he will be on campus this
fall.”
Huntington University is a member of the Mid Central Conference (MCC)
and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). On
the baseball field HU has captured the MCC regular season championship
or conference tournament championship 26 times in 46 years. The
Foresters have also had eight former players go on to careers in
professional baseball, including Heath Luther with the Anaheim Angels
in 2001 and Greg Slee with the Seattle Mariners in 2004.
Brad is the son of Roger and Ruth Ellen Needler of Marion, IN. |
