- Huntington University
announced that Goshen High
School outfielder Jon Rolon will continue his baseball career as a
Forester. During his senior year in high school, Rolon hit .367
with 2 home runs, 14 RBI, 23 runs and 5 stolen bases. For his career
he hit .377 with 15 home runs. Rolon was named 1st team all
conference last spring.
“We are excited that Jon is coming to HU,”
said head baseball coach Mike Frame. “He can swing the bat and will
have a chance to make an impact right away. We will look at him at a
couple of spots in the outfield. We think he has a chance to be a very
solid hitter at the college level. He is a young man of great
character and is another great addition to a strong recruiting class.
We look forward to the impact he will make on and off the playing
field.”
Huntington University is a member of the Mid-Central Conference (MCC)
and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). On
the baseball field, HU has captured the MCC regular season
championship or conference tournament championship 26 times in 46
years. The Foresters have also had eight former players go on to
careers in professional baseball, including Heath Luther with the
Anaheim Angels in 2001 and Greg Slee with the Seattle Mariners in
2004.
Jon is the son of Abelardo
and Iris Rolon of Goshen, IN. |
