04.13.07 - The Foresters downed Taylor University 8-0 behind solid pitching from Drew Taylor in game one, but couldn't pull off the sweep dropping game two 12-2.

"We played well in the first game behind another solid outing by Drew," said Coach Frame. "The second game got away from us because our pitchers weren't able to throw the ball over the plate."

In the opener, Drew Taylor threw a complete game two-hit shutout for HU to move to 6-1 on the year.  He also struck out five while walking just one.  The Foresters broke a scoreless tie with four runs on four hits in the bottom of the third and then put the game out of reach with two in both the fifth and sixth innings.

Austan Kas had an exceptional game in the leadoff spot, going 3-4 at the plate with three runs scored and one RBI.  Korey Grow was 2-3 with two runs scored and a RBI.

In game two, the Trojans took a 2-0 lead after two innings.  HU got one back in the third, but Taylor exploded for five runs in the top of the fourth to take a commanding 7-1 lead.  The Foresters got one more in their half of the fifth, but then the offense dried up.  The Trojans added two more in the sixth and three in the seventh for the final 10-run margin.

Taylor was the beneficiary of 13 walks by the Forester pitching staff and two defensive errors, which enabled the Trojans to score 12 runs on just seven hits.  Michael Dalton, who started the game for HU, went three and two thirds innings in the loss.  He gave up seven runs on four hits and seven walks while striking out two.
