Huntington University has announced that Mississinewa High
School grad Justin Branock has committed to play baseball for the
Foresters this fall. Branock hit .500 with seven home runs, 24 RBI and
18 stolen bases during his senior year and was named All-Conference,
All-Grant Count, and Team MVP.
“We are very happy
that Justin has decided to attend HU,” says head baseball coach Mike
Frame. “Even though we return most of our position players, Justin
will have an impact on our team right away. He was primarily a catcher
in high school, but we will look at him initially as an outfielder as
well. We think he has a chance to be an outstanding player at the
college level.”
Huntington University is a member of the Mid-Central Conference (MCC)
and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). On
the baseball field HU has captured the MCC season regular season
championship or conference tournament championship 26 times in 47
years. The Foresters also have had eight former players go on to
careers in professional baseball, including Heath Luther with the
Anaheim Angels in 2001 and Greg Slee with the Seattle Mariners in
2004.
Justin is the son of William and Cheryl Branock of Marion, IN. |
