Fremont High School graduate, Travis Frantz,
has committed to play baseball at Huntington University this fall.
During his junior year in high school, Frantz hit .403 with seven home
runs, 28 RBI and 35 walks. Frantz did not have the opportunity to play
his senior year because of a knee injury suffered in basketball. For
his career Frantz hit .383 with 17 home runs and 77 RBI. Frantz was
named All-Conference and All-Area his sophomore and junior years.
“Travis is a
tremendous addition to our program,” says head baseball coach Mike
Frame. “He will make an immediate impact on our program. He is an
outstanding offensive player with legitimate home run power. We will
look at him at third base and in the outfield. He also has
distinguished himself in the classroom by being a finalist for the
Indiana Lilly Scholar program and being a presidential scholar at HU.
We could not be happier that he will join our program.”
Huntington University is a member of the Mid Central Conference (MCC)
and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). On
the baseball field HU has captured the MCC season regular season
championship or conference tournament championship 26 times in 47
years. The Foresters have also had eight former players go on to
careers in professional baseball, including Heath Luther with the
Anaheim Angels in 2001 and Greg Slee with the Seattle Mariners in
2004.
Travis is the son of Neil and Connie of Fremont, IN. |
