04.15.08 - After disappointing losses in the final inning in both of the first two games with Marian College, the Foresters evened the series by winning the second two at home 6-4 and 14-4.

In game one, HU got its turn to steal one back in its final at-bat and did so in dramatic fashion with a walk-off grand slam by Alex Rinearson with one out in the bottom of the seventh.  Heading into the seventh the score was tied 2-2.  When the Knights plated two in the top of the inning, the trend from the first doubleheader seemed to be continuing with their last-inning heroics.  The difference this time was that the Foresters had the final opportunity to determine the outcome.

After Keith Benbow struck out to start the inning, a Marian error opened the door for HU as Austan Kas reached first on a wild throw.  Thad Frame then singled to left and Korey Grow hit one through the hole at shortstop to load the bases.  Then Rinearson sent a 2-2 pitch over the right field fence to give the Knights a taste of their own medicine.

Eric Randel, who went the distance in the game, moved to 6-1 on the year with the win.  He allowed four runs on nine hits and five walks while striking out three.  Grow led the Foresters with a 3-4 performance at the plate and Rinearson was responsible for five of HU's six RBI.

In the nightcap, the Knights scored two in the top of the second, but the Foresters evened things up in their half of the frame and then took the lead for good with five runs in the third.  HU left no doubt with two more in the fifth and then brought the game to an early conclusion with another five in the sixth.

The Foresters, who out-hit the Knights 17-8, were led by Benbow's perfect 4-4 feat at the plate, which included a triple.  He also scored four times and drove in a run.  Frame took game-high honors with five RBI.

HU's Trent Huffman remained undefeated at 4-0 with the win.  He went five innings and gave up four runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out two.

The two wins move the Foresters to 20-10 on the season and 15-4 in the MCC.
