04.24.08 - In their regular season finale, the Foresters split two games with Bethel College winning 6-5 in game one and falling 12-0 in the nightcap. HU finished second in the conference with a 21-6 record and secured the #2 seed in the Mid-Central Conference tournament which will be hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University on April 30 - May 3.

In the opener, Bethel took an early 3-0 lead.  The Foresters got two back in the bottom of the second and evened things up at 3-3 in the fourth.  The Pilots reclaimed the lead with a pair of runs in the top of the fifth, but Alex Rinearson hit his third homerun in as many games, this one a two-run shot in the bottom of the fifth to rein in Bethel again.

The score was still knotted at 5-5 as HU headed into its final at-bat.  Keith Benbow led things off with a walk and Austan Kas bunted for a hit to move Benbow to second.  One-out later, a passed ball by the Pilot catcher allowed Kas to move third and Thad Frame to move to second.  Bethel's pitcher intentionally walked Korey Grow to load the bases bringing Rinearson to the plate. With the infield drawn in, he lined a single through the hole at short to give HU the come-from-behind victory.

Eric Randel moved to 8-1 on the season with another solid performance on the mound for the Foresters.

In the nightcap, it was all Bethel.  The Pilots racked up seven runs in the first two innings and never looked back.  They added five more over the final three innings to bring the game to an early conclusion.

Trent Huffman took the loss for HU.

With the split, the Foresters are now 26-12 as they head into post-season play.
