- A very memorable season for the Foresters was brought to a
close with a disappointing 7-0 loss to Spring Arbor University in the
championship game of the NAIA Region VIII Tournament.
Spring Arbor starter, Cody Sharp,
pitched a masterful game
scattering just three Forester hits over the entire nine innings with
no free passes and 10 strikeouts. HU also aided the Cougars
cause by committing five errors in the game, which led to four of the
seven runs.
The Cougars scored four runs in their
first at-bat which was all they would need to claim the regional
title. They added another run in the eighth and a pair in the
ninth to put the game out of reach.
Drew Taylor went eight and a third
innings in the loss for HU. He allowed seven runs, three earned,
on 10 hits and two walks while striking out 12.
The Foresters conclude their season
with a 32-14 record. The win total is the second-highest in the
history of the program. The record is 35 which was posted in
both the spring of 1988 and 1991.
