Huntington University has announced that former Noblesville High
School grad Vince Moore has
committed to play baseball at HU this fall. Moore will be transferring
from the Auburn University at Montgomery after red-shirting last year.
As a senior for the Millers, Moore hit .389 with 25 RBI and scored 29
runs. He earned All-Conference, All-Hamilton County honors and was an
Academic All State selection. He culminated his high school career by
being named to the Indiana North/South All Star Series.
“We recruited Vince
in high school and we are very excited he will be transferring to HU
this fall,” says head baseball coach Mike Frame. “He will play one of
our middle infield spots right away. He swings from the left side and
will probably hit in the middle of our order. He works very hard and
loves to play the game. He also is an outstanding student and another
great addition to our program. We believe he will have an outstanding
career.”
Huntington University is a member of the Mid-Central College
Conference (MCC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate
Athletics (NAIA). On the baseball field, HU has captured the MCC
regular season championship or conference tournament championship 27
times in 48 years. In 2008 HU finished 32-14 which included a MCC
tournament championship. The Foresters have also had eight former
players go on to careers in professional baseball, including Heath
Luther with the Anaheim Angels in 2001 and Greg Slee with the Seattle
Mariners in 2004.
Huntington University is a Christian liberal arts college
located in Huntington, IN, with an enrollment of approximately 1100
students. Athletically, HU competes in fourteen intercollegiate
sports for both men and women.
