06.27.08 - Westview High School 2008 graduate, Anthony Roth, has signed a Letter of Intent to continue his baseball career as a Huntington University Forester this fall. During his junior year, the left handed pitcher was 8-2 with a 1.33 ERA. As a senior, Roth was 6-5 with a 4.29 ERA.

“We are very happy that Anthony will be with us this fall,” says head baseball coach Mike Frame. “He is not overpowering on the mound, but knows how to pitch and has had a lot of success in a very good high school program. He also plays for one of the better summer programs in the state and has enjoyed success at that level as well. He is another solid addition to our roster.”

Huntington University is a member of the Mid-Central College Conference (MCC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).  On the baseball field, HU has captured the MCC regular season championship or conference tournament championship 27 times in 48 years.  In 2008 HU finished 32-14 which included a MCC championship. The Foresters have also had eight former players go on to careers in professional baseball, including Heath Luther with the Anaheim Angels in 2001 and Greg Slee with the Seattle Mariners in 2004.

Huntington University is a Christian liberal arts college located in Huntington, IN, with an enrollment of approximately 1100 students.  Athletically, HU competes in fourteen intercollegiate sports for both men and women.

Anthony is the son of Keith and Gayle Roth of Shipshewana, IN.
