2008 graduate, Anthony Roth, has signed a Letter of Intent to continue
his baseball career as a Huntington University Forester this fall.
During his junior year, the left handed pitcher was 8-2 with a 1.33
ERA. As a senior, Roth was 6-5 with a 4.29 ERA.
“We are very happy
that Anthony will be with us this fall,” says head baseball coach Mike
Frame. “He is not overpowering on the mound, but knows how to pitch
and has had a lot of success in a very good high school program. He
also plays for one of the better summer programs in the state and has
enjoyed success at that level as well. He is another solid addition to
our roster.”
Huntington University is a member of the Mid-Central College
Conference (MCC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate
Athletics (NAIA). On the baseball field, HU has captured the MCC
regular season championship or conference tournament championship 27
times in 48 years. In 2008 HU finished 32-14 which included a MCC
championship. The Foresters have also had eight former players go on
to careers in professional baseball, including Heath Luther with the
Anaheim Angels in 2001 and Greg Slee with the Seattle Mariners in
2004.
Huntington University is a Christian liberal arts college
located in Huntington, IN, with an enrollment of approximately 1100
students. Athletically, HU competes in fourteen intercollegiate
sports for both men and women.
Anthony is the son of Keith and Gayle Roth of Shipshewana, IN.
