Huntington
University has announced that Bishop Luers High School grad Tyler
Bunn has committed
to play baseball at HU this fall. During his senior year the third
baseman hit .405 with a home run and 29 RBI for the state champion
Knights. “Tyler
is a great addition to our program,” says head baseball coach Mike
Frame. “He is a hard working, blue collar type player. He comes from
a winning program and understands what it takes to be successful. We
will look at him at third base and first base. He swings the bat
very well.”
Huntington University is a member of the Mid-Central College
Conference (MCC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate
Athletics (NAIA). On the baseball field, HU has captured the MCC
regular season championship or conference tournament championship 27
times in 48 years. In 2008 HU finished 32-14 which included a MCC
tournament championship. The Foresters have also had eight former
players go on to careers in professional baseball, including Heath
Luther with the Anaheim Angels in 2001 and Greg Slee with the Seattle
Mariners in 2004.
