Northfield
High School grad Ty Mills has committed to continue his baseball
career at Huntington
University this fall. During his senior year, Mills was 9-1 with a
2.01 ERA. In 73 innings pitched he had 92 strikeouts and gave up
only 49 hits. At the plate, he hit .418 with five home runs, 29 RBI,
and had 24 runs scored. Following in final campaign, Mills was named
1st Team All-Conference and Honorable Mention All-State.
He also was named Northfield High School’s MVP and was the Wabash
County Player of the Year.
“Ty will make an immediate impact for us
both on the mound and at the plate,” says head baseball coach Mike
Frame. “He is a good athlete with his best baseball ahead of him. We
look forward to the impact he will have on Forester baseball.”
Huntington University is a member of the Mid-Central College
Conference (MCC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate
Athletics (NAIA). On the baseball field, HU has captured the MCC
regular season championship or conference tournament championship 27
times in 48 years. In 2008 HU finished 32-14 which included a MCC
tournament championship. The Foresters have also had eight former
players go on to careers in professional baseball, including Heath
Luther with the Anaheim Angels in 2001 and Greg Slee with the Seattle
Mariners in 2004.
Huntington University is a Christian liberal arts college
located in Huntington, IN, with an enrollment of approximately 1100
students. Athletically, HU competes in fourteen intercollegiate
sports for both men and women.
