06.26.08 - Huntington University announced that Huntington North High School standout, Ethan Tribolet, has signed a letter of intent to play baseball for the Foresters this fall. As a senior, Tribolet was 7-3 on the mound with a 2.18 ERA. In 67.1 innings pitched, he had 90 strikeouts and only 20 walks.  Offensively, Tribolet hit .444 with 4 home runs and 27 RBI. He was named first team All North Central Conference in 2007 and 2008. In 2008 he was named Honorable Mention All State and was selected to the Indiana North-South All Star Series later this summer in South Bend, IN.

“We are very excited that Ethan has decided to attend HU,” says head baseball coach Mike Frame. “He will make an immediate impact for us. He has outstanding ability on the mound and is athletic enough to make an impact for us as a position player. We think his best baseball is still ahead of him. We are very happy that he will be on campus this fall.”

“Ethan was an outstanding part of the Huntington North baseball program the last four years,” adds Huntington North head coach Russ Degitz.  “Although he will be missed, we are excited that he has decided to continue his education and baseball career at Huntington University.  I know from my experience there that he will become a better baseball player, student, and overall person because of the type of place that HU is.”

Huntington University is a member of the Mid-Central College Conference (MCC) and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).  On the baseball field, HU has captured the MCC regular season championship or conference tournament championship 27 times in 48 years.  In 2008 HU finished 32-14 which included a MCC championship. The Foresters have also had eight former players go on to careers in professional baseball, including Heath Luther with the Anaheim Angels in 2001 and Greg Slee with the Seattle Mariners in 2004.

Huntington University is a Christian liberal arts college located in Huntington, IN, with an enrollment of approximately 1100 students.  Athletically, HU competes in fourteen intercollegiate sports for both men and women.

Ethan is the son of Mike and Polly Tribolet of Huntington, IN.
