02.27.09 - The Foresters finished their first road trip of the season with a pair of losses, 7-2 and 1-0, to Union University in Jackson, Tennessee.

In the first game of the doubleheader, the Bulldogs scored in each of the first three innings to take an early 5-0 lead.  In the top of the fourth, HU got two back with a little help from two Union errors and a hit batsman, but that is where the Foresters' offense ended.  Union plated two more in the bottom of the sixth and posted the 7-2 win.

Eric Harpring led HU at the plate with two hits.  Eric Randel (0-1) took the loss for the Foresters giving up seven runs, five earned, on 12 hits and four walks while striking out one.

The nightcap was a pitcher's duel.  The Bulldogs took advantage of a leadoff double by Alex Turner in their first at-bat. Danny Grimm moved Turner to third with a sacrifice bunt and Corey Rudolph scored him on a fielder's choice to the shortstop. The remainder of the contest was a scoreless stalemate.

The Foresters had their best chance to even things up in the fourth when Andrew Drummond singled and stole second with one out.  Travis Frantz then singled to left but Drummond was thrown out at the plate.

Mitch Bowers (0-1) went the distance in the loss for HU.  He allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out two.  The Foresters out-hit Union 5-3 in the game and Drummond led them with two singles.
