The Cougars grabbed the early lead with a run in their first at-bat, but HU evened things up in the bottom of the third and then took a 2-1 lead in the fifth.  Spring Arbor didn't go down without a fight though. The Cougars manufactured a run in the top of the seventh to knot the score at 2-2, but the Forester defense stranded two runners on base to end the rally.

In HU's final at-bat, Ryan Shell led off with a single to center. Cody Richey laid down a sacrifice bunt to move Shell to second and Eric Schultz drew a walk. Shell advanced to third on a fielder's choice and then Andrew Drummond came up with the clutch two-out single to drive in the winning run.

Drew Taylor, who came on in relief of starter, Eric Randel, registered the win. He allowed a run on one hit and a walk and he struck out one.  Drummond led HU with two hits and two RBI in the contest.

In the nightcap, both teams had six hits, but Spring Arbor was more productive with their offense scoring three runs to just one for the Foresters. HU also left nine runners on base in the game.

After four scoreless innings, the Cougars took advantage of an HU error to score the first run of the game in the top of the fifth.  The score remained 1-0 until the Foresters committed another costly error in the top of the seventh that allowed Spring Arbor two more runs.  In HU's final at-bat, Shell grounded out to open the inning, but the Foresters put together three consecutive hits to plate their first run of the game.  The Cougars then changed pitchers and got the final two Foresters on a strike out and a ground ball back to the mound.

Anthony Roth went the distance in the loss.  He gave up three runs on six hits while striking out three.  Richey and Edwin Rodriguez both had a double in the game for HU.

After splitting the two games, HU now stands 10-9 on the season.
