04.16.09 - After capturing the top spot in the conference standings with their sweep of Taylor University, the Foresters got tripped up twice by Bethel College on the road losing 8-7 and 10-1.

In the opener, HU took the early lead with two runs in the first, but the Pilots jumped in front with three in the bottom of the second and another in the third.  The Foresters reined them in with a pair of runs in the fourth to knot the score at 4-4, but again  Bethel took the lead by pushing two across in the sixth.

HU finally reclaimed the lead in the top of the seventh with a three-run inning that included a two-run single by Eric Harpring and a solo homerun off the bat of Edwin Rodriguez.  Unfortunately the Foresters couldn't make it stick.  Bethel came up with three clutch two-out singles to drive in two and pull off the win.

Drew Taylor went the distance in the loss for HU.  He gave up eight runs on seven hits and an uncharacteristic seven walks while striking out two.  Harpring led the Foresters at the plate with a 3-4 performance and two RBI.

After HU scored a run in the top of the first to begin the second game, it was all Pilots. Bethel tied the game with a run in the second and then added three runs in the third, fourth and sixth to decisively dismiss the Foresters.  HU managed just five hits in the contest, while the Pilots pounded out 17.

Mitch Bowers was the pitcher of record for the Foresters.  He threw three innings and gave up seven runs on 10 hits and a walk while striking out two. Eric Schultz and Ryan Shell both had two hits for HU and Andrew Drummond drove in the Foresters' lone run.

The two losses drop HU to 20-14 on the season and 11-5 in the MCC.
