04.22.09 - The Foresters used 18 hits to put away Grace College 11-8 in the opener of the MCC doubleheader and then got a complete game shutout from Mitch Bowers to win the second game 3-0.

The Lancers took the early lead with two runs in their first at-bat, but HU got its offense going in the bottom of the second.  The Foresters combined five hits including a 3-run homerun by Edwin Rodriguez for five runs in the inning and scored one or two runs in each of the next four innings.  Grace scored four times in the top of the third to briefly regain a 6-5 lead, but the Foresters' steady supply of offense kept them in front the remainder of the game.

Will Barone picked up the win for HU.  He came on in relief of starter Drew Taylor and threw four innings allowing six runs on nine hits and a walk. Rodriguez and Travis Frantz both went 4-4 at the plate for the Foresters.  Frantz had two singles and two doubles while Rodriguez contributed three doubles, a homerun and a team-high three RBI.

In the nightcap, HU took advantage of three infield singles and a fielder's choice in the bottom of the first to grab a 1-0 lead. From there the pitchers' duel began with neither team scoring until the Foresters pushed across two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Bowers threw a three-hit gem with no walks and six strikeouts to record the complete game victory.  Andrew Drummond led the team with two hits in the contest.

The pair of wins moves HU to 23-15 on the season and 14-6 in the MCC.
