02.08.10 - Huntington University has announced that Huntington
Nor th High
School senior Shaun Marion has committed to play baseball at HU this fall. During his sophomore year in high school, Marion was named
to the Honorable Mention All North Central Conference at third base.
During his junior year Marion
was 1-1 on the mound with a 3.68 ERA.
“We are very happy that Shaun has decided to attend HU,” says head
baseball coach Mike Frame. “We are very familiar with him and he is
familiar with what we try to do here. We believe his best baseball in
ahead of him. We will look at him both in the outfield and on the mound.
He has a strong work ethic and he is an outstanding young man. He comes
from an outstanding high school program that works to do things the
right way. Shaun is a great addition to our program.”
Huntington University is a member of the Mid Central Conference (MCC)
and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). On
the baseball field HU has captured the MCC season regular season
championship or conference tournament championship 27 times in 49
years. The Foresters have also had eight former players go on to
careers in professional baseball, including Heath Luther with the
Anaheim Angels in 2001 and Greg Slee with the Seattle Mariners in 2004.
Huntington University is a Christian
liberal arts college located in Huntington, Ind., with an enrollment of
approximately 1,000 students. Athletically, the Foresters compete in
fourteen intercollegiate sports for both men and women.
