- On Saturday, May 6,
thousands of individuals flocked to Indianapolis for the annual OneAmerica
500 Festival Mini-Marathon. Among the participants there to brave the
grueling 13-mile course were more than 25 Huntington University alums and
current students, faculty and staff (see list below*). A significant
percentage of those participating enter the race hoping they can make it to
the finish line, but for two former HU cross country harriers, John Ngure and
Eric Ade, the goal was to get to the finish line first.
Ngure and Ade, both
members of the 1999 HU men’s cross country team that finished 6th
at the NAIA National Championships, were Top 20 finishers in the event.
Ngure, a three-time cross country and eight-time track NAIA All-American,
placed 7th out of the more than 27,000 finishers in the race with
a time of 1:07.52 and Ade was 17th in 1:09.50. Congratulations to
all the participants for a great showing and for representing HU with
distinction.
