10.21.06 - The men and women's cross country teams competed in the Mid-Central Conference championships on Saturday.  The Forester men ran to a third place finish and the women finished fifth.

Indiana Wesleyan won the men's 8K race with a team score of 49 followed by Taylor (64), HU (73), Spring Arbor (83), Marian (125), Goshen (145), Grace (198), Bethel (202) and St. Francis (247).

Three HU harriers earned MCC All-Conference honors with a Top 12 finish.  Nick Johnson paced the Foresters finishing fourth in 26:13; Dan Lindbloom was seventh in 26:29; and Joseph Njeri was twelfth in 26:47.  Luke Diehl (19th, 27:34) and Cody Hannie (32nd, 28:06) rounded out the list of scorers for HU.  Other Forester runners were Michael Lehman (33rd, 28:07), Luke Andrews (42nd, 28:42), Dan Schaber (70th, 30:14) and Josh Barnett (85th, 33:49).

"Our men's team is very young, but they have worked hard and have continued to improve all season," said Coach King.  "They ran an excellent race today." 

In the women’s 5K race, Spring Arbor took the team title with a score of 42 followed by Indiana Wesleyan (64), Taylor (67), Goshen (83), HU (136), Bethel (146), Marian (164), St. Francis (231), and Grace (269).

Molly Andrews was HU's top finisher.  She placed 22nd in 20:25.  Emily Holliday was 24th in 20:31, Ashley Buck was 26th in 20:34, Jill Roughia was 28th in 20:38, Vanessa Macias was 41st in 21:25 and Laura Bowman was 58th in 22:17.

"The women have competed hard all season," said Coach King.  "They have done a great job of reaching their potential."
