In a dual meet with Marian College, the Forester men’s
cross country team put five runners in the top six to win the E. DeWitt Baker
Invitational on Homecoming weekend.
With
the main competition coming from themselves, HU's Joseph Njeri and Dan
Lindbloom sprinted to the finish with just a second separating them. Njeri
crossed first in 26:37 and Lindbloom followed in 26:38. Not far behind
in third place was the Foresters' Nick Johnson with a time of 26:56.
Marian's top runner finished fourth and then HU's Michael Lehman (28:03) and
Luke Diehl (28:17) rounded out the scoring for the Foresters with their fifth
and sixth place finishes respectively.
Other
runners for HU were Nick Hindes (8th, 29:36), Luke Andrews (11th, 30:34),
Dave Boyer (15th, 32:59) and Josh Barnett (16th, 34:45). HU won with a
team score of 17 with Marian second with 42 points.
The
women didn’t field a complete team, but still had four runners participate.
Jill Roughia was HU’s top runner finishing with a
time of 20:44. Michelle Kyler crossed in 22:06. Bradie Vance ran
the race in 22:28 and Ali Shideler posted a 23:20.
St. Xavier University won the women's team title with a score of 25 followed
by Marian (50), Butler (53) and St. Francis (105).
