The Forester men's cross country squad returned to the NAIA National
Championships held at Wisconsin-Parkside after making their last appearance
in 1999. HU finished twelfth in a 28-team field with a team score of 322,
just 29 points out of seventh.
Malone College had three runners place in the
top 10 to claim the NAIA title with a score of 59. Black Hills State
was second with 202 points followed by Lindenwood (210), Simon Fraser (228),
Cornerstone (235), Aquinas (240), Embry Riddle (293), Union (298), California
State-San Marcos (301) and Indiana Wesleyan (304) to round out the top 10.
Joseph Njeri paced the Foresters with a 49th
place finish in 25:45.7. Other runners scoring for HU included Nick
Johnson, who was 65th in 25:59.1; Dan Lindbloom who was right on his heel in
25:59.8 for 67th place; Tobias Sauter who came in 118th with a time of
26:23.5 and Luke Diehl who crossed in 26:44.1 for 160th place. Also competing
for the Foresters was Michael Lehman (217th, 27:21.6) and Luke Andrews
(243rd, 28:08.3).
Azusa Pacific's Aron Rono captured the
individual title crossing the line first with a time of 23:52.1.
