The Forester men’s
and women's cross country teams competed in the Roy Griak Cross Country
Invitational at the University of Minnesota. The field of more than 250
competitors came from NCAA Division I and II institutions, as well as few
NAIA teams.
In the
men's race, the HU harriers ran a solid race placing two runners among the
top 15 finishers to finish 12th of 25 teams. The Foresters were paced
by Joseph Njeri, who finished 12th in 26:27 followed closely by Nick Johnson
in 15th place just four seconds later. Dan Lindbloom (39th, 26:59), Luke Diehl
(107th, 28:08) and Michael Lehman (116th, 28:19) rounded out the list of
scorers for HU. Also competing in the race was
Nick Hindes (147th, 29:38) and Josh Barnett (171st, 31:56).
Minnesota State Mankato won the overall meet with a score of 110.
On the
women's side, HU finished 30th.
Jill Roughia was HU's top finisher with her 127th place finish in 25:57. She was
followed by Michelle Kyler (164th, 27:11), Bradie Vance (174th, 27:53), Ali Shideler (188th, 29:20) and Joanna Stebing
(191st, 30:31).
Augustana won the women’s championship with a score of 69 points.
