10.16.09 - With several runners setting new personal bests, the Forester cross country teams each ran to a top-five finish on Saturday at the Manchester Invitational.

The men finished third with 78 points while the women placed fifth with 142 points.  Manchester topped both meets, with the men tallying 23 points and the women recording 54 points.

n the women's 6k race, Lauren Johnson continued her winning ways by finishing first in 22:32, nearly 50 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.  Finishing 29th, 30th and 33rd were Bradie Vance (25:31), Molly Shirey (25:39) and Krystal McHenry (25:46).  Joanna Stebing was 73rd in 28:31.  Other HU runners were Emilee Green (79th, 28:51) and Abbey Wise (87th, 29:39). 

In the men's 8k race, HU was led by Joseph Njeri who finished 7th in 26:39. Ethan Medley was 10th in 26:56.  Lance Wood finished 12th in 27:05. Nathan Rupp was 15th in 27:20 and Matt Bittner finished 38th in 28:48.

Other HU runners were Isaiah Laatsch (41st, 28:50), Daniel Becker (42nd, 28:59), Alan Huffman (49th, 29:41), David Boyer (55th, 30:19) and Nathan Barnett (60th, 31:24).   

"This was a good run for us," said Coach Tom King.  "We are showing good improvement with average times this week about a minute faster than our last meet.  All of our freshmen ran personal bests."

The Foresters will compete in the Southeastern Classic in Louisville, KY this weekend.
