10.24.09 - Running on a muddy Tom Sawyer State Park course in Louisville, Kentucky, the men's and women's cross country  teams competed in the annual Southeastern Classic.  The men finished 11th out of 22 teams with 286 points while the women placed 15th with 332 points.

n the women's 5k race, Lauren Johnson paced the Foresters with an 18:17.07 finish placing her third overall.  Bradie Vance finished 56th in 21:04.41.  Krystal McHenry was the next Forester to cross the finish line in 21:38.64 (75th). Other runners were Molly Shirey (85th, 21:52.81), Joanna Stebing (113th, 23:41.88) and Abbey Wise (127th, 24:59.71). 

In the men's 8k race, Joseph Njeri led HU with his 26th place finish (26:33.51). He was followed by Ethan Medley who ran a 27:07.07 to finish 49th.  The next two HU runners were Lance Wood (65th, 27:23.78) and Alex Rosario (67th, 27:28.53).  Other runners were Nathan Rupp (79th, 27:51.09), Matt Bittner (110th, 28:52.74), Isaiah Laatsch (112th, 28:59.57), Daniel Becker (29:03.35), David Boyer (30:29.98) and Alan Huffman (30:37.93). 

Concordia University (CA) took home top honors for the women finishing with 66 points.  For the men, Bryan College (TN) finished first with 72 points.

Next up for the Foresters is the MCC Championships slated for November 7 in Fort Wayne.
