Hosting
its annual Homecoming E. DeWitt Baker Invitational, both Forester cross
country teams captured first place finishes.
On the men's side of things, Trine's Darin King finished first with a time
of 26:53. The next five runners to cross the finish line were
Foresters. Leading the HU pack and placing second overall was Joseph Njeri
who finished in 27:49. Alec Rosario was third in 28:05. Close behind
at 28:04 was fourth place finisher Lance Wood. Coming in next were Ethan
Medley and Nathan Rupp who finished 28:15 and 28:23 respectively.
Rounding out the scoring for HU were Matt Bittner who finished 12th in 29:48
and Isaiah Laatsch who crossed the line in 30:14 for a 15th place finish.
Following HU who won the event with
20 points
was Trine University (42) and Saint Francis (68).
The Forester women also ran well putting
three in the top five finishers. Lauren Johnson shaved four seconds
off her personal best and brought home top honors with a 18:29 finish,
nearly two and a half minutes faster than her competition. Krystal McHenry
was fourth in 21:35 and Molly Shirey was fifth in 21:43.
Rounding out HU's scoring was Bradie Vance (8th, 22:12), Emilee Green (18,
24:01), Joanna Stebing (20th, 24:30) and Abbey Wise (22nd, 24:53).
The Foresters finished with 36 points
followed by Saint Francis (42) and Trine (45). |
